It seems that when we are growing up in our homes, we adopt the habits of those around us. We learn what our parents show us and what we see from our friends. Many of us do not recognize differences in behavior or manner in home language of others. It would never ocurr to most children (even adults) to ask "what is interesting about that?"
For me, I now notice that there is a lot of interruption in my home language. There are also many expressions and phrases that I didn't realize other people outside of my family or community of acquaintances would not recognize. I would be willing to bet that some cultures in Europe or Asia or the Middle East would find habits of my home language very strange indeed. Really, unless a person is exposed to different behavioral types with language in different cultures, they really are likely to be oblivious to the existence of their own habits.
