The topic of language varieties in different social situations is very common. I see this many times with my friends as well as myself. I see this in myself especially through my boss, my teachers, and my different groups of friends. Depending on which boss that I talk to I consciously change my language. One of my boss's does not care about swearing and is more relaxed during the job. My other boss is straight to the book and does not leave any room for relaxed conversations. I notice this also when I am with different friends. I have a group of friends that is more in to rap and lives that life style. When I am around those kids, I tend to talk the slang and start talking similiar. This situation was made clear to me after when I was with one of my other friends that didn't talk with that language.
Once realizing that I changed my speech, I was able to see how I changed depending on what group of people I was with. I eventually took enough notice to the change in language that I stopped the switch.
