Language or Slang?

I can see where Carlene comes from in considering these hybrid languages to be a slang form of standard English. I think that most of us think we will sound as though we are degrading the different dialects if we call them slang, however that is because many of us associate slang with trashy words. I am not really sure whether I would consider them to be slang but they are certainly not languages of their own. The barrowed words and phrases could be construed as slang but they are all different dialects, to be sure.
