English Plus
English is so widely used today that I feel there is no need to change the laws of this country to protect it from the 'dangerous floods' of linguistic variety. We as a society should not amend our constitution to promote ignorance of culture, it would make more sense to promote english plus in elementary schools and have everyone eventually be multi-lingual. For immigrants this would be extremely beneficial, they would have the attainable means for learning english and they would not be quite as alienated from society when they first arrive in the USA.

I agree with you, having English a a common language does unite us, the US constitution was written by English speakers not a a version of the united nations that got together and came up with a plan. reason why they are such a failure, nobody understands each other .We have to know and understand and be able to communicate among ourselves so no misunderstandings happen. Language is what unite us, we all know the feling af agony when we are lost in a foreign country and can ask foro help or directions.
I agree with your point about promoting english use in elementary schools. That is a good long term solution, but what about right now?
I could not agree more with Jake. English-Plus will enrich culture, and serves as a great weapon against ignorance.
Why choose isolation in lieu of participation?
Why choose alienation in lieu of incorporation?

I agree with you. We need to be able to have solid communication in society or we will be screwed.
